Hello, everyone! This is technically my second video tutorial; I recorded a first one on a different topic, but it was 18 minutes, so I couldn't find a place to upload it. I'll redo it sometime soon and divide it into two parts. As it is, here's a tutorial. Sorry about the subject; I tried to a different one after this, as I wanted to do a tut where the viewer never had to leave blender and go into a separate program, but it was getting too late in the day, so I've stuck with this one for now. In other words, ignore the 'This is SSimpossible again' as it's only again to me, and not to you ;) So I guess this tutorial was more of a test; just something for me to practice, and a way for you to possibly get used to my terrible voice.
P.S. Sorry for all the mistakes
P.P.S. I noticed there was a strange glitch at the end where the cursor remained the same as the one in SketchUp; oops...
Cool! I haven't attempted a video tutorial yet, because the only tutorials I've written period were beginner instructions for BGE.
ReplyDeleteGood job! I hope you figure out how to overcome your video time limit issues.
ReplyDeleteHey, SSImpossible! Could you tell me one thing: how do you tape your computer screen? Do you just set a camcorder pointing at the screen?
ReplyDeleteI used this: http://www.smallvideosoft.com/download.php
ReplyDeleteDownload the 'Screen Recorder' one; I'm not sure what all the other ones are exactly, but I didn't download any of them except that one. It's free, by the way (in case you hadn't noticed). I would use CamStudio, but when I use it some sort of glitch occurs, and I've had to reboot my computer a couple times just to get it to stop.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm downloading it as we speak!
ReplyDelete(And, um, I think that it's P.S.S. not P.P.S..
ReplyDeleteThat's great! But I would think that post post script would make more sense (as it's saying the script after the script after the main text) than Post Script Script.
ReplyDeleteOh. I didn't even know what P.S. stood for!
ReplyDeleteUm, dude...are you going to start posting again, or what?
ReplyDeleteSorry; school again. I'll try to post one this week. Obviously (and unfortunately) you'll be seeing less posts in any season other than summer. I'm aiming for one tutorial a week, but it's not going so well.
ReplyDeleteYeah. It's getting kinda hard for me to post on Natron the Third, too. But I'm hoping to write or film a tutorial about making a lightbulb in Blender.... Do you think that that would be something you'd like to see?
ReplyDeleteWell, I've recorded another tutorial, but it's not uploading when I try to get it on youtube. It's the right size, right length, right file type. I've uploaded a video with the same recording software and file type used, and it still won't upload this one! Vimeo just doesn't work, and I can't find any other decent video-hosting sites.
ReplyDeleteI uploaded my first *snicker* Blender tutorial onto Vimeo. http://vimeo.com/natron
ReplyDeleteAnyways, my computer is so slow, it's impossible to watch my videos I make. But I thought of a better idea for a tutorial: getting LEGO people into Blender. Of course, you people probably already know how to do that. You're all so much smarter than me!
Yes, I actually do know how to do that. But we're not all smarter than you, we all just have knowledge about different things in Blender. By the way, your video buffers really quickly :)
ReplyDelete(Sheepishly) Thanks. I'm taking your roller coaster-making tutorial, but I can't really get it to work.
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong? If you're using 2.55 beta, it won't work. It's a really annoying bug; in other words, if the problem is that the camera isn't moving, it's because of a bug in 2.55. If that's not it, can you tell me what the problem is?
ReplyDeleteSure, Ben. I wasn't using 2.55 beta, but 2.53 beta, because 2.54 doesn't work on my computer anymore. In fact, I didn't know that 2.55 was out yet, but I'm dowloading as we speak. (When is 2.6 coming out? Is it at all?) But the camera moved fine, it was just that you couldn't see the track the whole time, and the camera was just looking off into space.
ReplyDeleteI was going to make a video tutorial on that (to re-create it) but I still can't find a good place to upload them, so I don't know when the next video tutorial will be coming out. As far as blender goes, I would assume 2.6 will come out after 2.59 is released. As far as the track goes, I'm not sure what the problem is. Do you think you could upload the .blend, and post a link? Mediafire is a great site for uploading files like that (mediafire.com), and you don't even need an account to upload something. And last but not least, I found another great, free, screen recording program. It's called HyperCam; I've only tried it out a couple of times, but it seems to work pretty well. I recommend trying it sometime.
ReplyDeleteOkay. Cool! I think this is my MediaFire page:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mediafire.com/myfiles.php
We have to wait that long for 2.6???
Well, 2.5 came out after 2.49, and it makes sense. 2.5 is still under development too, so there won't be a 2.6 any time soon
ReplyDeleteBy the way, since you don't have to have an account on MediaFire, it registers whether or not you're logged in judging by the computer you're using. In other words, the link you gave me will only take you to your uploaded files if you're using your computer; if I try to go to the link on mine, it'll take me to my uploaded files. If you want to upload a .blend, and post a link to it, you have to go to that file, then copy the url. Hope that makes sense!

ReplyDeleteThe link worked, but MediaFire won't let me download it.... It's nothing wrong with what you gave me, just the site, I think. Try pasteall.org
ReplyDeleteOn the right, it has three options: to upload code, a blender file, or an image. Obviously upload the blender file. Sorry that MediaFire isn't working, and I don't blame you if it just isn't worth the trouble to upload it somewhere else.
http://www.pasteall.org/blend/4206
ReplyDeleteDoes that help?
P.S. Really, it doesn't actually matter that much, 'cuse I just saw on your tutorial that you don't know how to fix that. That's what you said.
http://www.pasteall.org/blend/4207
And here's my BGE game, Tee-Vee.
For the coaster, sorry I don't know how to fix that. By the way, if you think it looks to blocky, add a couple of loop cuts on the one section in the middle of the track. It'll make it a lot smoother. As far as the game goes, I like it! I've been reading your tutorials on it, and you're doing a great job! My only recommendation is that you change the shooting key from the Left Ctrl. to something like 'S'. I don't know; I just couldn't figure out how to shoot with it, so I had to exit the game and examine the empty in front of the gun (or cannon?) to figure it out. But good job, nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteOh. You're right. An obvious key would be the spacebar, right? But I think that's the jump key. Anyways, thanks for reading my tutorials.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You're not going to, like, sell my game and playgerize me, are you?
Lol, no! I wouldn't do that; I'm not that kind of person :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I didn't think so.
ReplyDeleteWhat video file format did you use when you uploaded your video to vimeo? I can't get mine to work; it says there's an error when I upload it after it's about 80% through the upload.
ReplyDeleteUmmm... okay. First of all, what video software are you using? Because the one I have isn't a trial version. Also, your second comment didn't make any sense. Transferring designs to books or somthing? What? Why are you typing in German? If it weren't for Google translate, I couldn't understand a word you were saying...
ReplyDelete(Sheepishly)
ReplyDeleteMea culpa. I'm planning on learning German, Latin and Spanish before I turn eighteen, and I couldn't resist. But, yeah, there's something wrong with my translator.
Ah; I know a fair amount of Latin (Mea culpa = My fault, correct?), and some Spanish, but absolutely no German. :(
ReplyDeleteCool!
ReplyDeleteOh, and happy belated Thanksgiving, by the way.
ReplyDeleteThanks. You too!
ReplyDeleteHey, have you ever read James L. Nelson's books? They're really good.
